We want to make you aware of the impact weather systems are having on deliveries to some of our Specialty by Birdi and Birdi Mail Order patients.
Two weather systems are impacting both UPS and FedEx. The UPS hub in Louisville, KY, and FedEx hubs in Indianapolis, IN and Memphis, TN are experiencing delays.
Additionally, MedImpact is monitoring the California fires impacting significant portions of Los Angeles and Southern California.
Due to the winter storms, Specialty by Birdi had to reschedule many deliveries scheduled for January 6, 7 and 9. They pivoted throughout the week between the two carriers based on hub operational status.
In cases of emergency, they are allowing shipment and worked with their package protection agency to get deliveries to their final location.
Where they can, they are working with local pharmacies to fill medication for patients at risk of missing their next needs by date.
They are doing everything that they can to prevent disruption and provide continuity of care, but these two weather systems back-to-back continue to be challenging for carriers.
They are rescheduling most patients for early next week.

The CLE-Care HMO Plan includes prescription drug coverage through MetroHealth pharmacies.
PPO and HDHP Coverage
Prescription coverage for the Medical Mutual Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan and High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) is through a separate pharmacy benefit management (PBM) carrier, MedImpact.
