Housing Newsletters

Throughout the year, University Housing sends students reminders, updates, and important dates to be aware of through emailed newsletters. Information sent in each newsletter can be accessed here shortly after newsletters go out for students and their families to reference at their convenience.

Fall Break Dining Hours

Dining locations have adjusted hours over the break, with some locations closed Monday and Tuesday. For each dining locations' daily hours of operations, you can stay up to date here.

University Housing & Area Offices

Our main office and the area offices will continue to operate on our usual schedule over the break. Services and support at the offices will be provided as normal.

Mail & Packages Reminder

In order to ensure proper mail delivery and sorting, it is important that your address on mail and packages includes your first and last name and matches your address as listed in MyHousing for this semester under the MyAssignments page. Incomplete addresses or addresses that do not match what our system has on file can delay mail and package processing.

Halloween Packages

If you are ordering items/costumes for Halloween, we recommend placing your orders as soon as possible. This is a high-traffic time of year for package deliveries. Order early and aim for a delivery date of at least two days before your costume is needed.

Scheduled Maintenance Reminder

During the break, multiple areas have maintenance and necessary staff entry to spaces scheduled. Please check your email for notifications from rfconcerns@case.edu for any scheduled work or staff entries in your area.

Upcoming Important Dates

The fall semester is flying by! Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break will be here soon. Regardless of your break plans and spring semester plans, it helps to start planning early.

October 29: Spring 2027 Only Housing Application Opens

The Spring 2027 Only housing application will open for new students and students returning to campus from study abroad, co-ops, and other leaves on October 29. If you expect to have a vacancy in your room/suite/apartment and wish to request a specific new/returning student to move into the space for the spring, we recommend connecting with them in advance to ensure they put your network ID into their application for their roommate request.

Eligible students planning to move to/from Greek housing for Spring 2027 will also be able to complete the relevant housing application through this process.

More information will be available on our website within the next two weeks, ahead of the application opening.

November 11: Winter Break Housing Application Opens

Students must be in housing for the fall and spring semesters to be eligible for Winter Break housing. Registration will open in MyHousing for eligible students starting November 11.

The cost for Winter Break housing is a flat rate of $525 for first-year, second-year, and university-operated Greek house residents. Upper-class students are able to register for Winter Break housing at no additional fee.

Winter Break dining options are still being finalized, and additional information will be shared soon.

Student athletes and resident assistants required to stay over any part of the break will receive additional information as our office coordinates with Athletics and Residential Living and Learning, respectively.

November 12: Spring 2027 Housing Release & Academic Status Change Forms Open

Are you leaving the university for a co-op, studying abroad, finishing your degree this semester, or otherwise taking time away from campus? Our office will start accepting this information in MyHousing on November 12.

November 25: Room Change Requests End

The Office of Residential Living and Learning will process room change requests through November 25, ahead of Thanksgiving Break. After this time, University Housing will begin making Spring 2027 housing assignments for new/returning students in remaining vacancies across campus.

November 26 & 27: Thanksgiving Break

Offices, including University Housing, will be closed for Thanksgiving Break. Additional information about hours at the area offices through Thanksgiving weekend will be shared soon. Students expecting mail or packages ahead of this break should schedule delivery early with the holiday break in mind.

Dining locations will also have adjusted hours of operation over Thanksgiving Break.

December 17: Fall Moveout

Residence halls close on December 17 at 3:00 p.m. for students not registered for Winter Break. Students remaining in housing for Spring 2027 will need to complete a checkout process, but do not need to remove all belongings from the rooms they will be returning to in January. If you are not returning for Spring 2027, you must be fully moved out of your assigned room at that time.

Regardless of your spring housing plans, preparing for your Winter Break travel early can help your end of semester closing experience go smoothly. Confirm your finals schedule, update your families as needed, book your flights, and talk with your roommates/suitemates about departure plans in advance.

Closing instructions will be available in mid-November on our website, and our team will send out periodic updates and reminders to help you prepare.

We hope you have an enjoyable, safe Fall Break.
