Living On Campus - Summer 2025

The housing application for Summer 2025 will be available soon!

Summer housing officially starts on Sunday, May 25, 2025 and ends on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Spring Transitional Housing

(only available if living in summer housing beginning on May 25)

Students with an existing spring 2025 assignment in a CWRU residence hall or university-operated Greek House, and who wish to continue into the start of summer housing may choose spring transitional housing. This allows you to stay on campus from May 9 when the residence halls or Greek houses close for the spring semester, through your summer housing end date.

Students in spring transition will remain in their current spring 2025 assignment until they are able to move into their summer housing assignment.

NORTON HOUSE RESIDENTS

Due to a summer renovation project, all Norton residents will need to move out by Friday, May 9 at 3:00 pm.  If you are planning on staying for summer housing, we will move you to your summer assignment by May 9 (or a temporary assignment if summer housing is not available).

When Do I Move Into My Summer Assignment?

  • Students will move into their summer housing assignment between Thursday, May 22 - Saturday, May 24 or unless otherwise communicated. It is expected that you remain on campus during transition so you are prepared to move.
  • Students are expected to pack early and be ready to move when they receive the email notification to move into their summer assignment.
  • All students will be moved into their summer housing assignment by Saturday, May 24. There are no extensions available past this date.
  • Students taking a May Term study abroad class are not eligible for spring transition housing.
  • University Housing will notify students as soon as possible if any special move situations occur.
  • If you select spring transition housing, you MUST be living in summer housing through at least Friday, June 13, 2025.

Spring transition housing is billed as a flat rate of $320.00

Students taking a May Term class

Summer Room Rates

Fall and spring transition housing is charged as a flat fee.  If you select spring transition housing, you MUST be living in summer housing through at least Friday, June 13.  If you depart any earlier, you will still be billed through this date (except May term students - see above).

During the summer, housing is charged at a reduced nightly rate, and you will be billed based on the amount of time you stay on campus.  The nightly rate for each room type is as follows:

  • Stephanie Tubbs Jones (STJ) and Hazel Apartments
    • Any sized apartment, single bedroom -- $40.00/night

All summer charges will be billed via student accounts through the Office of Student Financial Services.

How to Calculate Your Summer Housing Charges

Use this date calculator to determine the number of days for your summer housing duration. (Do not include the end date in your calculation, as we go by the number of nights you stay on campus).  The last day you can request to move into summer housing is July 10, 2025.

Calculate the charge by multiplying the number of days x nightly room rate

For example: May 25 - August 3 (entire summer) is 70 days.

  • STJ/Hazel:  $40.00/night x 70 days = $2,800

Here are a few examples of room costs, based on summer academic sessions.
