The housing application for Summer 2026 is now available in MyHousing!
Summer housing officially starts on Sunday, May 24, 2026 and ends on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
What options will be offered for summer housing?
All Summer 2026 housing options will be in the South Residential Village, in Fayette House and Noyes House. Please note that most rooms in these buildings are double rooms. As space allows, we will offer the option to close the second bed of a double room, while the student living there pays the single room rate.
Spring Transitional Housing
(only available if living in summer housing beginning on May 24)
Students with an existing spring 2026 assignment in a CWRU residence hall or university-operated Greek House, and who wish to continue into the start of summer housing may choose spring transitional housing. This allows you to stay on campus from May 8 when the residence halls or Greek houses close for the spring semester, through your summer housing end date. Spring transition housing runs from May 8-23.
Students in spring transition will remain in their current spring 2026 assignment until they are able to move into their summer housing assignment.
SHERMAN & TYLER HOUSE RESIDENTS
Due to a summer renovation project, all SHERMAN & TYLER residents will need to move out by Friday, May 8 at 3:00 pm. If you are planning on staying for summer housing, we will move you to your summer assignment on May 8th. We plan to offer moving assistance for any who are interested and are moving from the northside, to their southside summer assignment.
When Do I Move Into My Summer Assignment?
- Students will move into their summer housing assignment between Thursday, May 14 - Saturday, May 16 or unless otherwise communicated. It is expected that you remain on campus during transition so you are prepared to move.
- Students are expected to pack early and be ready to move when they receive the email notification to move into their summer assignment.
- Students taking a May Term study abroad class are not eligible for spring transition housing.
- University Housing will notify students as soon as possible if any special move situations occur.
- If you select spring transition housing, you MUST be living in summer housing through at least Friday, June 12, 2026.
Spring transition housing is billed as a flat rate of $320.00
Students taking a May Term class
Students taking a May Term class (except the study abroad classes), will be able to move out after May term. You will need to move into summer housing between May 8-23. Please email or call us directly so we can verify your class registration and adjust your move out date to Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Summer Room Rates
Fall and spring transition housing is charged as a flat fee. If you select spring transition housing, you MUST be living in summer housing through at least Friday, June 12. If you depart any earlier, you will still be billed through this date (except May term students - see above).
During the summer, housing is charged at a reduced nightly rate, and you will be billed based on the amount of time you stay on campus. The nightly rate for each room type is as follows:
- Noyes/Fayette
- Single bedroom -- $38.00/night
- Double Bedroom -- $28.00/night
All summer charges will be billed via student accounts through the Office of Student Financial Services.
How to Calculate Your Summer Housing Charges
Use this date calculator to determine the number of days for your summer housing duration. (Do not include the end date in your calculation, as we go by the number of nights you stay on campus). The last day you can request to move into summer housing is July 10, 2026.
Calculate the charge by multiplying the number of days x nightly room rate.
For example: May 24 - August 2 (entire summer) is 70 days.
- Single: $38.00/night x 70 days = $2,660
* Spring Transition is only available for spring residents with a summer contract. Students stay in their spring assignment until they move into their summer assignment.
** Fall Transition is only available for summer residents with a fall contract. Students stay in their summer assignment until they move into their fall assignment.
Fall Transitional Housing
(only available for summer residents with a fall housing assignment)
Summer housing students with a fall 2026 assignment in a CWRU residence hall or university-operated Greek house, who are on campus through the end of summer housing (August 2), may also choose fall transitional housing. This allows you to stay on campus from August 2 when summer housing ends through August 20 when the residence halls and university-operated Greek houses open for the fall semester for returning students.
Students in fall transitional housing will remain in their summer housing assignment until they are able to move into their fall housing assignment.
When Do I Move to My Fall Assignment?
- Students will move into their fall housing assignment between Thursday, August 6 - Saturday August 8, unless otherwise communicated due to early arrivals or building preparations. It is expected that you remain on campus during transition so you are prepared to move at anytime.
- Students are expected to pack early and be ready to move when they receive the email notification to move into their fall assignment.
- All students will be moved into their fall housing assignment by Saturday, August 8, 2026. There are no extensions available past this date.
- University Housing will notify students as soon as possible if any special move situations occur.
Students cannot sign up for fall transition housing as a separate term.
