- Read the Sick Pay policy.
- Sick pay for non-exempt employees may be taken in hourly increments.
- Sick pay for exempt employees may only be taken in full or half day increments.
- If employees are out of vacation pay, they may not substitute sick pay unless the time off falls within the sick pay policy. However, if employees are out of sick pay, they may substitute vacation time.
- Read the Vacation policy.
- Vacation can only be taken in full day or half day increments (exempt or non-exempt employees), unless it is time taken under the FMLA.
- For non-exempt employees out of sick and vacation time (i.e. zero balance), they may take unpaid time.
- For exempt employees out of sick and vacation time (i.e. zero balance), supervisors should contract the HR Compensation Office for guidance before exempt employees should be unpaid.
- Read the Bereavement policy
- Bereavement is taken from an employee paid sick leave balance. It is limited to eight (8) days per year, which includes paid leave taken for family illness, family medical leave, or bereavement.
