To increase student satisfaction with awareness of and responsiveness to student feedback and to improve operations for communicating changes made due to student feedback 

Project Description

Creation of two targeted newsletters and a webpage to document and disseminate changes made based on student feedback

Anticipated Outcomes

Increased student satisfaction data (e.g., internal surveys, GQ, and ISA)

Objectives

Update and streamline reporting of student and faculty demographics; monitor recruitment and retention efforts of diverse students, faculty, and senior administrative staff; develop a system for reporting pipeline program outcomes

Project Description

Review and revise recruitment and retention efforts of diverse students, faculty, and senior administrative staff; increase the number of faculty providing demographic information through increased communication; identify a position for pipeline program tracking

Anticipated Outcomes

Sustain the current level of or increase the percentage of diverse medical students, faculty, and senior administrative staff; reporting of common outcomes associated with pipeline programs

Objectives

Increase internal compliance related to student-reported observation of the relevant portions of the history and/or physical exam

Project Description

Refine how data is captured and reported; Update the list of required skills to be observed for each clerkship; Refine content on required observations of students to the Residents as Teachers module; Modify mid-clerkship self-assessments to intervene by encouraging students to create a plan to be observed if they report no observation 

Anticipated Outcomes

Increased rates of student-reported observations of history and physical exams on the GQ and/or internal surveys

Update assessment guiding principles to include formative mid-course/clerkship narrative feedback for all courses and clerkships; Increase faculty and student understanding of the quality and quantity of pre-clerkship and clerkship feedback

Project Description

Build assessment-focused faculty development opportunities into existing retreats’ update materials and methods used to orient students to the assessment systems and requirements in both the pre-clerkship and clerkship settings

Increased student satisfaction with the quality and quantity of pre-clerkship and clerkship feedback on internal surveys

To increase student satisfaction with information on career advising and information about specialties 

Project Description

Develop and/or increase offerings related to specialty advising and implement mandatory class meetings to disseminate important information to students related to career planning; Increase staffing for career planning 

Anticipated Outcomes

Increased number of related pre-clerkship and clerkship/M4-5 sessions held; Increased percent of: students completing Student-Generated Educational Plan and/or documented advisor network description; Increased student satisfaction data (e.g., GQ and ISA)

Increase student satisfaction with financial aid and debt counseling services 

Project Description

Develop tools to improve medical student satisfaction and confidence in financial aid services and to enhance their personal knowledge of debt management, including enhanced customer service and engagement activities and more robust financial literacy programming and resources. Piloting the one-on-one AAMC loan repayment sessions with graduating students with > $100,000 in debt

The Independent Student Analysis, or ISA, is a required student-run survey that is a critical component of the LCME reaccreditation process. The CWRU ISA committee is hard at work designing questions for the upcoming ISA survey to be distributed in the Fall of 2023. Results from the upcoming 2023 ISA survey will be made available on this webpage. Representatives from all programs and classes are represented on the ISA Committee:
