Frequently Asked Questions About Living On Campus

Here are some frequently asked questions, along with additional resources. If you have a question that is not answered here, please contact us at housing@case.edu.

Contact information for your roommate is available from our online housing portal called MyHousing. Under MyAssignments, you will find information about your roommate such as email address and telephone number.

Through the beginning of August, University Housing offers several waitlist options for students to request a change to their housing assignment. Waitlists for Upperclass Experience and Second-Year Experience housing opened in April.

The waitlists for First-Year Experience housing open Tuesday, July 20.

Requests for room changes are considered beginning the third week of classes, if there is available space. You can initiate a room change through your Residential Community Director by completing the room change request form on CampusGroups.

Unfortunately, we cannot release any details about why your previous roommate may have been removed from your room. The most common reason is that they decided not to attend CWRU. We continue to assign students throughout the summer to ensure that everyone has a room.

Personal property of students is not covered by University insurance. Students should carry their own insurance protection against loss or damage to their personal property (through parent's homeowner insurance or renters insurance). CWRU partners with GradGuard Renter's Insurance.

The University is not liable, directly or indirectly, for loss of or damage to any article of personal property anywhere on the premises caused by fire, water, steam, insufficient heat, the elements, or actions of third persons.

Yes, laundry facilities are provided in every residence hall. Laundry is included in the room rate. No need to bring quarters for laundry! All washing machines are high-efficiency front-loading LG machines. We would highly recommend that you bring high-efficiency detergent (look for the "he" on the bottle).

All machines are also equipped with Laundry View, a program where you can go online via the housing website and check the availability of washers and dryers. Click here for more information.

You can put in a request to have your bed lofted before you move-in.  Go to MyHousing and click on MyAssignments.  Under your fall housing assignment, you will find the form to request to have your bed lofted. We will also have our maintenance staff available on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16 to help with on-site bed lofting.

Please note: Some spaces do not have beds that can be lofted. If you have a housing assignment and cannot submit a bed lofting request in MyHousing, your bed may not be capable of lofting.

The area offices are located on each side of campus, in the North and South Residential Village Areas. Staffed by full-time administrative staff as well as part-time student assistants, it's where you'll pick up packages and mail, check-in, get keys, and obtain information on a wide range of topics.

Yes. Plants, posters, photos, and other approved, removable decor are permitted. We recommend reviewing our provided packing lists, including what not to bring to campus, ahead of your arrival.

Students may also bring approved small caged animals (including fish). Residents bringing a pet are required to fill out a pet registration form in MyHousing, which must be approved before the pet is brought to campus. Registration forms will open in August. Approval is required by the roommate as well as the Residential Community Director or Associate Director of Greek Life. Dogs, cats, ferrets, and animals requiring a heat lamp are not allowed. If you require an assistance animal, please contact the Office of Disability Resources for approval at disability@case.edu

We recommend that you hang items with 3M removable items (hooks, picture hangers, etc) or blue painter's tape. No nails or any other type of tape are allowed. Adhesive LED light strips are not permitted in university housing.

Wallpaper, contact paper, borders, paneling, waterbeds, removal of university furniture, and painting over varnished surfaces are not allowed.

In the North Residential Village, mail will be sorted and kept on file at the Residential Area Office, in Wade Commons. To receive your postal mail, bring your student ID to the office.  The exceptions to this are The Triangle Apartments and PMA apartments, where mail will continue to be delivered directly to these facilities.

In the South Residential Village, mail is directly delivered to your mailbox in the lobby of the residence hall, by the US Post Office.

Students are able to receive packages in three ways; via Amazon Lockers, PackCity Lockers and the Residential Area Office desks. Packages delivered to the area office and are logged and students notified via email when they have received packages. Read all the details about mail and packages on our website

Finding your campus address is easy! Simply sign on to your MyHousing account, and click on your housing assignment. This will bring up a page with information about your assignment, including your campus mailing address. Mail and packages should be addressed exactly how you see it on your assignment.

The residence halls remain open during Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break and Spring Break.  The upper-class residence halls are open during winter break for students returning for the spring semester. For the past few years, we have been offering winter break housing to first-year, second-year and Greek students who need housing for the entire break period.
