How to Submit an Event to The Daily

If your office or group is hosting a major event for broad audience, consider submitting it to The Daily through CampusGroups.

Please note that events can only be submitted to The Daily through CampusGroups. Do not submit events through any other forms or make duplicate submissions.

Instructions

Important: Before you submit ANY new event for consideration, review the Daily submission requirements. If the topic, audience, and format do not meet the criteria, it will removed from the event submission queue.

First, create your event on CampusGroups (see Event Creation Guide).

Ensure that the your event draft includes all required details and a high-quality, "real life" event photo.

When ready, click Create Event and Proceed to Approval Form.

On the Additional Event Information form, you will be asked a few brief questions about the event. This helps CWRU CampusGroups administrators verify that your event is configured correctly.

For question 7. OPTIONAL: Would you like this event to be considered for inclusion in The Daily?, select "Yes".

On the next page, confirm that your event meets the requirements, specify your desired run date, and click Submit

After submission, the event will appearing as Pending in your group's internal events list.

Due to platform limitations, only the officer who started the event draft can complete and submit the this form. Once the event draft is published, any officer will be able to edit the event. The event form will remain associated with the original event creator/form submitter.

Please note: Due to the volume of submissions received, The Daily's editors can not guarantee that a submission will run on any particular day. If approved, editors will aim to run the listing as close as possible to the preferred date.

Approval

After submission, your event will be sent to CWRU CampusGroups Support for review. Events that meet all requirements will be approved and sent on to The Daily staff within 1-2 business days.

If your event remains in pending status for longer, use the requirements checklist to identify and correct any issues that may be preventing a quick approval.

You can log into CampusGroups (community.case.edu) and edit your pending event anytime - you do not need to wait for a response from our team.

If further modifications are needed for your event, a reviewer will reach out via CampusGroup chat. Most users will receive an "Unread chat messages" email with a link to reply, but you can also log into CampusGroups (community.case.edu) and click on "Chats" in the topbar menu to check for messages.

Requirements

Your event must meet all requirements below to be considered for inclusion. A more compact version of this list is displayed in the Additional Event Information form.

Event Topic

Audience

  • all students, all staff, all faculty, or a combination thereof
  • two or more schools
  • the entire campus community

If your event has a narrower audience (one school, students in a specific major, members of a specific group, etc.), you can still post it on CampusGroups but should not be submitted to The Daily. Consider a more targeted method of communication instead.

Time and Location

Event Page Configuration

The CampusGroups event page must be polished, complete, and ready to appear in The Daily.

Event Photo and Flyer

Events submitted without a compliant event photo will not be approved. The event flyer is optional.

The photo will be automatically cropped to a long banner or a square depending on where the event data is displayed. The best event photos are high-resolution, wide-format photos that are "zoomed-out" with the subject centered, but no important details close to the edges. An example is available on Ready Education's Image Sizing Guide.

If you are not sure where to get a good photo for your event, here are some ideas:

  • a photo taken with a phone or camera at a previous or similar event
  • a photo of the event location
  • a stock photo related to the featured topic or activity (some are included in CampusGroups - click on "Photo Gallery" then "Free Photos")
  • a relevant photo from the CWRU Photo Library
