Tyler Nelson is a graduate of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, where he received a Bachelor's of Arts in both Mathematics and Economics. Within these fields, he is drawn to studies involving large scale data analysis as well as current trends in U.S. macroeconomics. Having grown up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Tyler has been connected to life at CWRU for a number of years. His involvement at CWRU ranges from his participation in the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony at The Cleveland Institute of Music to his research for Dean Michael Scharf's foreign policy podcast Talking Foreign Policy.

Tyler is passionate about his volunteer work as a guide dog raiser for the Cleveland East branch of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a non-profit organization based in New York City. Although it is never easy for Tyler to say goodbye to the dogs he has trained and loved, he is extremely appreciative of the opportunity he has to help improve the lives of individuals with disabilities all across the world.
