Spring 2021 Virtual Global and Intercultural Learning: Poland – Applications due Feb. 12

Poland

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented an unprecedented challenge for students interested in studying abroad this year. However, the Mandel School is pleased to announce that study abroad courses are going virtual again this spring! Virtual study abroad courses provide an opportunity for students to engage in global and intercultural learning with diverse professionals across the globe without having to leave home.

Study Poland virtually this semester with lectures, discussions and visits with local organizations in Invisible Groups in a New Poland (SASS 375C/575) for 3 credits. You'll discover how Poland’s recent political and economic transformations impact its public and private social welfare system working to tackle poverty, homelessness, aging, and mental health disorders.

This elective course is open to all CWRU students and approved for Global or Cultural Diversity for arts and sciences majors, social science credit for engineering majors, the social work minor, or elective course credit. The class will meet over the course of four Saturdays:

  • Feb. 20
  • Mar. 6
  • Mar. 20
  • Apr. 3

Expand your worldview and broaden your perspectives while gaining new insight on how different countries and cultures approach social welfare issues, policies and practices.

Applications are due Feb. 12.

Register for the course in SIS.
