The Daily only accepts event submissions through CampusGroups.
To submit a new event for consideration, you will first need to create an event on CampusGroups.
You will need to be an officer of your group in order to create an event or edit existing events
Please refer to the Event Creation Guide for help creating an event.
After clicking Create Event and Proceed to Approval Form, you will be taken to the Additional Event Information form and asked a few brief questions about your event. The answers are not displayed publicly, but used by CWRU CampusGroups administrators to verify that your event is configured correctly.
Answering Yes to the question 7. OPTIONAL: Would you like this event to be considered for inclusion in The Daily? and submitting the form will add your event to the review process.
If there any modifications needed for your event, a reviewer will reach out via CampusGroup chat. If you have submitted and do not receive an approval within 1-3 days, please check your CampusGroups profile for any request changes.
Due to platform limitations, only the officer who started the event draft can complete and submit the form. Once the event is published, any officer will be able to edit the event.
Please contact campusgroups@case.edu if you encounter any issues with event approval.
Event Requirements
Events submitted to The Daily must meet the following requirements:
- Broadly relevant and accessible topic. If your event topic is highly technical or so niche that only a small percentage of readers would be able to benefit from it, it is not suitable for The Daily.
- Open to a broad audience, such as:
- all students, all staff, all faculty, or a combination thereof
- two or more schools
- the entire campus community
- If your event has a narrower audience (one school, students in a specific major, members of a specific group, etc.), consider a more targeted method of communication.
- In-person, virtual or hybrid event with a clearly-stated time and location for attendance. Long multi-day events, online sales and fundraisers, calls for entries, submission deadlines and other ongoing or virtual-only events are not acceptable.
- The CampusGroups event page is polished, complete, and ready to appear in The Daily:
- The event name is clear, descriptive and brief (under 70 characters).
- The event description is polished, complete, and consistent with the editorial style guide.
- The event photo is a high-quality photograph with no overlaid text, logos, or other graphics. You can use a photo from a previous or similar event, the event location or activity, or one provided by CampusGroups (click on "Photo Gallery" then "Free Photos") or the CWRU Photo Library.
- If an event flyer is included, ensure that it is high enough resolution to not appear blurry when it appears
- The CampusGroups event page meets digital accessibility standards, including
- The event photo is accompanied by a photo description (alt text). Learn how to write good alternative text.
- If an event flyer is included, all text on the flyer must be provided word-for-word in other fields or in the flyer description (alt text) field.
