Lisa Mencini, MBA, CPA

School of Medicine

Lisa Mencini, CPA, MBA, was appointed in August 2009, to the position of Senior Associate Dean. She first came to Case Western Reserve University in 2007 as the Associate Dean for Development and Public Affairs in the School of Law.

Lisa brought to CWRU significant experience from her roles in leadership with other organizations. At John Carroll University, Lisa served for seven years as the Director of Human Resources and then as Development Director in the Institutional Advancement Office. At John Carroll, she also taught classes in sports management and served on numerous University committees including the President's Leadership Committee.

In the mid-nineties, Lisa served for four years as Controller for the Cleveland Indians Baseball Organization, working closely with baseball operations and, in matters of finances and contracts, with the players themselves. During her tenure with the team, the Indians made four trips to the playoffs, hosted the All-Star game, and went to the World Series. Lisa also participated in the complex preparations to take the Indians organization public.

Lisa is a Cleveland native and a graduate of Nazareth Academy. In addition to being a past member of the Development Advisory Board for the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland, she previously served two terms as a Trustee at St. Joseph Academy, was a Board member at the Cleveland School of Science and Medicine – John Hay Campus, and served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children (CASA), representing foster and abused children in Summit County. In 2009, Lisa received an award of recognition for her dedicated service to St Joseph’s Academy Board of Directors. Additional awards of recognition include the 2016 Toyoko S. Yamashita Award from the Women Faculty of the School of Medicine (WFSOM) and the McGregor Foundation’s 2017 Inspire Award.

Lisa earned her Bachelor of Business Administration/Accounting with distinction from Baldwin Wallace University and a Masters of Business Administration from Cleveland State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Lisa lives in Hudson with her husband, David La Guardia, and has two sons, Michael and Matthew, both John Carroll graduates who work in the Cleveland area.
