Living on Campus - Entire Summer

Summer housing officially starts on Sunday, May 30, 2021 and ends on Sunday, August 1, 2021.

Spring Transitional Housing

Students with an existing spring 2021 assignment in a CWRU residence hall or university-operated Greek House, and who are living on campus for the entire summer, may also choose spring transitional housing. This allows you to stay on campus from May 20 when the residence halls or Greek houses close for the spring semester, through the start of summer housing on May 30.

Students in spring transition would remain in their current spring 2021 assignment until they are able to move into their summer housing assignment.

  • Students will move into their summer housing assignment between May 27-29 or, if your summer assignment is not ready, between June 4-6. It is expected that you remain on campus during transition so you are prepared to move at anytime.  You will receive email communication indicating which timeframe you will be expected to move.
  • Students are expected to pack early and be ready to move when they receive the email notification to move into their summer assignment.
  • All students will be moved into their summer housing assignment by Saturday, May 30, or in approved, Sunday, June 6, 2021.
  • Students who participate in a May term course which requires traveling, are not eligible to participate in spring transitional housing.
  • University Housing will notify students as soon as possible if any special move situations occur.

Students in fall transitional housing would remain in their summer housing assignment until they are able to move into their fall housing assignment.

  • Students will move into their fall housing assignment between Thursday, August 5 - Saturday August, 7, unless otherwise communicated due to early arrivals or building preparations. It is expected that you remain on campus during transition so you are prepared to move at anytime.

Application and Assignment Process

Applications will be available soon!

Applicants must select the period of occupancy, including any transition periods, and accept the summer residence hall agreement when the application is completed. Building and roommate preferences also can be submitted, though Housing cannot guarantee that all requests can be fulfilled.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the summer. Students requesting the 6 week or 4 week (#2) housing session may be notified of their assignment approximately 2 weeks before that session begins. We will begin to make assignments the week of May 10. If you have a specific roommate preference please submit your housing application by May 9.

Roommate Requests

Students will be able to submit summer housing roommate requests online at MyHousing. Guidelines for roommate requests are as follows:

  • Create your roommate group by entering in each person's summer housing application number and authorization code.
  • For Summer 2021, you may request roommates using the following guidelines:
    • Clark Tower will have a maximum of 4 people per suite.
    • For STJ or The Village, there will be a maximum of one more person than there is number of bathrooms in an apartment.
  • You are not guaranteed to be the only individuals living in your suite/apartment.
  • Housing reserves the right to fill the open spaces in your suite/apartment.
  • Coeducational groups must completely fill the apartment (using above guidelines)

Summer housing assignments will be made based upon lifestyle characteristics and building preferences listed on the housing application, and roommate requests submitted online. We will begin to make assignments the week of May 10. If you have a specific roommate preference, please submit your housing application by May 9.
