Alumna Shairi Turner-Davis, MD (MED ‘96), chief health officer at Crisis Text Line, is seeking volunteers to provide remote mental health support and crisis intervention service.

“During the holiday season, more people are in need and are reaching out to us,“ said Turner-Davis. “We are recruiting virtual volunteers to connect with folks who are lonely, depressed, have anxiety and more.“

Crisis Text Line offers services in English and Spanish 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Volunteers will complete a self-paced, 30-hour training that teaches critical communication skills such as active listening and collaborative problem-solving. Volunteers for the Spanish service complete an additional seven-hour training in Spanish. All volunteering is remote and done online using a personal computer and secure internet connection.
