Office of Foundation Relations

What We Do

Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine's Office of Foundation Relations is dedicated to fostering connections between researchers and philanthropic foundations. By collaborating with principal investigators and their teams, we assist in securing philanthropic funding for research, programs, and initiatives at the School of Medicine. We work with researchers to identify relevant opportunities, cultivate relationships with foundations, and assist in the completion of competitive letters of intent and proposals.

Strategic Support for Researchers

Each foundation has unique goals and requirements. Our office provides strategic guidance to help researchers navigate the process effectively. 

This includes:

  • Identifying potential funders for research projects.
  • Editing scientific and lay narratives.
  • Framing proposals to align with foundation interests.
  • Assisting with institutional letters and letters of support.
  • Accessing internal resources or support.
  • Engaging with foundation staff.

Funding Opportunities

One of our key roles is connecting researchers with private philanthropy through our funding opportunities email list. We regularly distribute opportunities through this list to researchers based on their selected areas of interest. If you are affiliated with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and wish to be included on this list, please contact Mickey Darr at gmd82@case.edu.

Our team is dedicated exclusively to securing private foundation grant funding and does not work on federal opportunities. Please contact the Office of Research and Technology Management for information and assistance on federal opportunities (NIH, NSF, etc.).
