Elizabeth Fehsenfeld, DMH, serves as the Chief of Staff at CWRU School of Medicine collaborating with Dean Stan Gerson since April 2022. In this role she serves as an extender representing Dr. Gerson when he is not able to be in two places at once, she serves on university committees representing the SOM, serves as liaison for the university-wide initiatives including the Population and Community Health Initiative. She works with the other Vice Deans and Chairs of the School while overseeing the areas of Human Resources, Dean’s Administration, monitors the Strategic Plan, while also taking on “other duties as assigned.”
She loves to learn and discover to improve operations to help build and foster a sense of community as we work to embrace the School of Medicine’s mission statement to improve global health by linking research to populations in a superb educational environment.
She holds a doctorate in medical humanities (DMH) from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. Academically, her work focuses on linking medical humanities and bioethics to undergraduate medical curriculum. She worked in medical education pursuing a career in developing curriculum and assessment prior to being offered an opportunity to work in the Office of the Dean, and then as an Sr Associate Vice President in a Provost Office which eventually led her back to medical education.
Prior to earning her graduate degree, she worked in education, healthcare, and arts—all of which led her to pursue a degree in medical education. She earned her bachelor’s at Stephens College.
