Dr. McComsey most recently served as the Vice President of Research, Associate Chief Scientific Officer, and directed the UH Clinical Research Center with a staff of more than 250 research professionals. She continues to serve as the Research Integrity Officer for the UH health system.

Internationally recognized for her research in HIV and long COVID, she has been a clinical and translational scientist at CWRU for the past 25 years. She has authored over 350 peer-reviewed publications, mostly in the area of cardiometabolic comorbidities in HIV infection and in long COVID, and had served as principal investigator or Chair on more than 15 NIH grants, and led several multicenter studies thru the NIH funded AIDS Clinical Trials Group.

Dr. McComsey has received several awards as the result of her research, including a Research Award from the HIV Medical Association of the Infectious Diseases Society of America recognizing her work in HIV metabolic complications, the YWCA Women of Professional Excellence Award, and Crain’s Women of Note in recognition of her organized and innovative response to the COVID pandemic in Northeast Ohio.

McComsey has received several awards as the result of her research, including a research award from the HIV Medical Association of the Infectious Diseases Society of America recognizing her work in HIV metabolic complications and the YWCA Women of Professional Excellence Award. McComsey has earned recognition by her peers and regularly voted among the Best Doctors in America and Best Doctors in Cleveland. Additionally she has repeatedly been named one of America’s Top Physicians and among the Exceptional Women in Medicine.
