The Community Health Initiative is a coalition of students from the Mandel School and the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. We work together to provide concise, holistic care to the residents of Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries' Men's Shelter at 2100 Lakeside Avenue. We offer information about social services in the community and facilitate a support group. Our goal is to meet the needs of the residents to the best of our ability and offer an opportunity for students of different professional backgrounds to learn about each other's respective fields.
Mission statement
The mission of CHI is to first and foremost, provide emotional support and resources to assist men who are experiencing homelessness in meeting their basic needs. CHI also aims to provide both direct and community practice students with an interprofessional experience and build confidence in working with diverse populations.
