Need-based Scholarships (MD students)
The School of Medicine awards need-based scholarships funded by institutional funds and donor endowments to eligible students in the University Program.
The amount of need-based funds awarded to eligible students is calculated based on the Cost of Attendance of the upcoming academic year and data collected through the financial aid application process. Awarding methodologies are determined by the school each year and applies to all eligible students who apply. Scholarship awards are guaranteed for four years of medical school and do not have to be repaid.
COVID-19 Update:
- Given the economic impact of COVID-19 pandemic (including job loss, furlough, or reduced income), we anticipate that students matriculating into the University Program of the CWRU School of Medicine will likely demonstrate greater financial need as compared to past years. In recognition of these unique circumstances, the School of Medicine has made the decision to focus our resources on helping to meet this need, and will be awarding only need-based aid in upcoming application cycles
Outside Scholarships Inventory (MD and PA students)
The Office of Financial Aid encourages students to seek scholarship support from all sources.
The combination of aid from all sources cannot exceed a student’s cost of attendance for a particular academic year. Support or benefits specifically designated for tuition cannot be combined for any amount over the cost of tuition for a particular academic year.
