Learn about Diversity Engagement Survey results and insights at School of Medicine community meetings this fall

The Diversity Engagement Survey (DES) completed by School of Medicine faculty, staff and students last year provided important insights toward the goal of building a strong community that inspires trust and responds to concerns. Developed by the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the Association of American Medical Colleges, the DES provides a holistic picture of diversity and inclusion at academic medical institutions, allowing the School of Medicine to benchmark and compare results to other institutions.

We are excited to share highlights from the survey and next steps to advance the work of inclusion. Thank you to all who responded—the survey responses indicated strengths and challenges which are highlighted below.

Celebrating Our Strengths

  • Faculty work aligns with the School of Medicine mission
  • Ample opportunities for faculty growth
  • Community of internal care

Mitigating Our Challenges

  • Promoting equity and equality
  • Addressing discrimination complaints
  • Supporting work with diverse and/or cross-cultural groups
