Congratulations to Susan Reichert who begins her new position as director of faculty affairs for the School of Medicine on June 2. Since her arrival at Case Western Reserve in 2010, Reichert has made a significant impact, initially serving as executive aide to then School of Medicine Dean Pamela Davis, and later advancing to the role of executive assistant in 2013. She plays a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day operations of the dean’s office and as the go-to resource, sounding board, organizer and historic reservoir for the dean, the team and beyond. In addition to managing a variety of projects, Reichert arranges meetings and retreats, provides administration support to the dean’s leadership group and various committees.
In her new role, Reichert will be managing the office of faculty affairs which includes faculty appointments, promotion and tenure, data systems, strategic planning for the department and overseeing the team, processes and procedures. She will continue to provide administrative support for various committees in the School of Medicine.
“I’m looking forward to working with the talented faculty affairs team, getting to know everyone and collaborating on everything from welcoming new faculty to supporting faculty transitioning to emeriti and working with our hospital partners and the vice deans,” said Reichert.
“Susan has the ideal combination of experience and extensive knowledge of the faculty administration and processes for this position,” said Dean Stan Gerson. “I am delighted that Susan will be taking on this new role where I know she will make a tremendous contribution along with our faculty affairs staff and Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs Nicole Deming.”
Her service to the wider university includes serving on the Case Western Reserve Staff Advisory Council and on the Administrative Professionals Network. For the past 11 years, Reichert has served as both a member and elected board member of the Association of American Medical Colleges Deans’ Assistants Group, whose mission is to improve communication among all medical schools and help deans’ offices to better meet their goals.
In her free time, Susan and her husband Kenny enjoy the Great Lakes Theater, traveling and camping in their vintage 1960s camper.
