Her own research activities focus on the important role of nutrition in dialysis patients, with over 46 peer-reviewed publications already amassed on her curriculum vitae. She previously served as the director of the Dietetics Practice Based Research Network (DPBRN) at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In that role, she conducted research studies on a variety of topics, provided extensive research training for dietitians, and developed a program of full-time mentored experience to train early career dietitians in research. At CWRU, she has developed programs and formal curricula to train undergraduate and Master’s students in research and evidence-based practice.  She is eager to inspire our medical students in their research pursuits across a variety of methodologies and study designs.

A prior winner of a CWRU Scholarship in Teaching Award, Dr. Hand has considerable teaching and mentoring experience as a Block 1 IQ facilitator and portfolio reviewer. She officially took the reins on July 1, 2023. We are excited to watch her soar in this new capacity.
