Student Engagement and Well-being

The Office of Student Engagement and Well-being supports the well-being of all students, with touchpoints in all aspects of their medical education experience.

Vision

A Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine culture where all learners feel welcomed and will thrive.

Mission

To create an enduring culture where all learners can thrive through intentional design of psychologically safe environments, enabling adaptive growth, meaningful engagement, and holistic support.

Office of Student Engagement and Well-being

Centered on students’ well-being, the office works closely with student leaders of Committee on Student Engagement (CSE 3G) to create professional development and community building initiatives where every student feels they matter and has the support to thrive throughout their medical education. With students, we systematically review the curriculum and look for opportunities to approach our patients with a lens towards Whole Person Health.

Student well-being is a centerpiece of our work, led by the Director of Well-being and the Student Well-being committee. We understand that medical school is a challenging and long yet immensely rewarding journey, and we aim to support students with a strong community and resources to help them thrive in the face of stress, life challenges, and significant events. We normalize and facilitate access to Case Western Reserve University resources such as Student Wellness and Disability Resources among others.

Weekly “Well-being Wednesdays” bring the student community together to pause and enjoy an activity, reflect on gratitude for those around us, and get comforted by K9 Therapy Dogs Maverick and Athena.
