Case Western Reserve University law faculty are national and international leaders in legal scholarship and research. The Scholarly Commons contains their writings in law reviews, books, journals and other publications. It is a service of The Judge Ben C. Green Law Library.
Since its creation in May 2014, Scholarly Commons has surpassed 5 million total downloads. In addition to law faculty publication uploads, the law library has added its journals. The law library has added 7,898 papers, including all available papers from the Law Review, Journal of International Law, Health Matrix, Journal of Law, Technology & the Internet, the Canada-United States Law Journal and the Social Justice Law Reporter. In addition to the six student-edited law journals, the law library added two cross-discipline journals, Societies Without Borders and The International Journal of Ethical Leadership. In April 2018, the repository met its first goal of 1 million downloads. Almost every year since, the repository added 1 million more downloads, equaling more than 5 million total downloads.

The law school Scholarly Commons’ impact far exceeds the short number of years it has existed, already ranking twelfth in the country amongst law schools in total paper downloads, only behind other top law schools like Michigan, Chicago, Duke, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Georgia, William & Mary, Brigham Young and Villanova. The top ten countries downloading from the law school Scholarly Commons are, in order of number of downloads: United States, India, United Kingdom, Canada, Philippines, Nigeria, Australia, China, Germany and South Africa.
The top ten institutions across the world downloading from the repository are, in order of number: Case Western Reserve University, Columbia University, Harvard University, New York University, the University of California Irvine, Yale University, Department of Defense Information Center, North Carolina Research and Education Network, Headquarters USAISC and Chowan University.
