Third-year law students Naomi Gahyun Kim and Rachel Lamparelli had outstanding experiences in their capstone externships. At the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) Public Health Law Program, Kim focused on state vaccination laws and researched the constitutional and civil rights implications of potential vaccine mandates. At the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Ohio, Lamparelli analyzed the scope of a brand new Ohio law that exempts individuals with serious mental illness from the death penalty and helped assess how defense attorneys can best utilize the statute.
