Jenna Chirichetti is the champion of this year’s Case Western Reserve University School of Law Dean Dunmore Moot Court Competition! Justice Melody Stewart, Judge Mary Jane Trapp and Jennifer Mesko served as competition judges.
"This competition was an amazing opportunity to learn how to advocate for a client, think quickly on my feet and turn my written brief into a conversation with the judges," said Chirichetti. "I am excited to continue developing these skills at CWRU!"
Thirty-two students competed in the intramural appellate-advocacy tournament named for Thomas Dunmore, who served as the School of Law’s dean from 1910 to 1945. The competition was open to all second- and third-year law students.
Maggie McNea was the competition’s runner-up while Chirichetti won the Best Brief Award. Lauren Mallaber won the A.E. Bernsteen Best Oral Advocate Award for the highest oral scores in the preliminary rounds, and Patricia Taylor won the Dean Dunmore Award for the highest oral scores in the competition rounds.
Professor Melissa Ghrist, who teaches LLEAP 3-Appellate Practice, wrote this year’s problem. She organized the 2025 competition with Anna Stroinski, Program Manager of Experiential Opportunities, and third-year law students Robert F. Read II and Katherine Clawson. Laura McNally, Associate Dean for Experiential Education and Director of the Milton and Charlotte Kramer Law Clinic, oversaw the competition.
Thank you to all of our volunteer judges and brief scorers for their contributions!
